Abstract: The article combines issues of literature and methodology. The focus of research are fairy-tale element in modernist literature at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries and in contemporary neomodernism. Featuring the sample analysis of the poem Snowflake by K. Balmont the contributor puts forward ways of secondary school students dealing with the symbolist idea of the world at Literature classes. The fairy-tales by M. Botyeva Two Sisters, Two Winds and Light ABC reviving the traditions of mythological-poetic symbolism are also considered.
