Abstract: The article considers some concepts of N. L. Leiderman‘s genre theory proved and supported through the analysis of «Konarmiya» (I. E. Babel‘s cycle of stories). The concepts under discussion include: reasons of unbalanced development of particular genres through the historico-literary process, connection between the type of genre completeness and the degree of artist involvement into the circumstances of the depicted world. Taking into main results obtained by the researcher we continued to scrutinize content-related and fact-based framing of the given opus and we demonstrated the way verbal behaviour of principal characters is arranged. We believe that the very picture of human embodiment in words makes up a specific plot of the book indicating ontological nature of its content. Philosophical, religious, poetic and common types of words and minds are in the focus of attention. All of principal characters consider language as impersonal communal essence and the fact of being attributed to this essence allows them to be rooted in their world in different ways. Having researched the way principal characters express themselves verbally we identified the status of each «language» and the ways of its integrity shaping.
