Abstract: The subject of the research is a self-reflection in a literary work; the aim of the work is to identify and analyze forms and methods of self-reflection in a literary work about children and for children. The author of the article uses phenomenological principles and tools of literary criticism. It was found that modern children's writers of the Urals (E. Lenkovskaya, A. Shchupov, T. Mikheeva, S. Lavrova) tend to analyze the results of their creative activities. Self-reflection in their works has different manifestations: from self-presentation of the biographical author in the text to authors’ commentation and interpretation of their works. Metatext markers, epigraphs to the fairytale and fantastic works with dedication to real persons, extensive system of prefaces and introductory and additional chapters, «text in the text» as a critical reception of the narrative — all these forms of self-reflection are the embodiment of the author's ideas. The results of the research can be useful for specialists in children's reading, for teachers of language and literature and students of philological departments. Also the approach to the children's literature through the prism of self-reflection will help to solve some urgent issues of semantics and poetics of works for children and about children.
