SYSTEM APPROACH PRINCIPLES IN THE COGNITIVE STUDIES OF LANGUAGE: RELEVANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract: The article deals some essential guidelines of cognitive linguistics and correspondent methods of language research from the point of view of a system approach to the studied object. The main attention is paid to the theoretical and methodological framework of the cognitive-discursive version of the Russian linguocognitology, developed in line with the Moscow and Tambov scientific schools. The aim of the paper is to correlate the methodological foundations and practices of a cognitive-discursive approach with the content of the universal principles of analysis defined by systemology. On the basis of this logical procedure, using various devices of descriptive method (observation, generalization, deduction, interpretation) and illustrative language facts we reveal the degree of congruence between methodological basis of cognitive linguistics and properties of language as a naturally functioning open system. Systems theory, or systemology, is denoted as a general scientific fundamental ground which allows to issue and effectively solve diverse challenges within specific branches of knowledge. The study examines actual conceptions for the cognitive analysis in terms of basic foundations of language / speech units conceptual analysis and its modifications, as well as frame semantics, methods of research the categorical organization of language and some other approaches. Selected point of view helps to prove systemological adequacy of linguocognitive methodology in comparison with other approaches taking place in the history of linguistics. The analysis involves such important principles of a system analysis as the principle of model constructing, strength of purpose, multifactority, integrality, interdependence of systems and environments on which a composition of the study is built. As a consequence we highlight heuristic opportunities and implemented scientific contribution of the cognitive-discursive examination of language in the comprehension of his system nature.
