Abstract: The article considers the issue of essential features and ways of describing the semantics of discourse understood as an array of texts, which is formed by the value-based (ideological in a broad sense) position of the speaking subject. The study formulates the principles linking discursive semantics with the world of reality, interpreters, material substrate, types of knowledge, and a form of objectification. The authors presented a point of view according to which discursive semantics is an expression of identity, and correlates with the world of ideas and values; is interpreted from certain ideological positions; is manifested by a multitude of real and potential texts correlated with each other on the basis of intertextuality; includes linguistic and non-linguistic knowledge; and has predominantly implicit modes of expression. The novelty of the work lies in the clarification of ontological aspects of discursive semantics that create theoretical prerequisites for its reconstruction. The heterogeneity of markers of discursive meanings in texts and their variability is fundamentally important, since this makes the heuristic way of describing them productive. The study has substantiated the validity of comparative analysis based on the idea of “discourse as an alternative world”. The article demonstrates the experience of reconstructing discursive meanings on the basis of diachronic comparison. The urgency of the study can be attributed to the fact that the state of the problem under discussion is characterized by separate observations that need systemic reflection and generalization.
