Grimace of Body Language in Gogol's Prose

Abstract: Research of body esthetics in Gogol's works, that started by formalists in 1920-s, continues in the article. The scientist focused his attention on one of the most specific body existence signal - a grimace. The author identifies typology, semantics and methods of making grimace in Gogol's narration, and specifies its functioning. Special problem is a question about etymology of the principles of embodiment used by Gogol; different researchers' points of view are given. Scientists speak about importance of baroque (in its Italian version) esthetics in interpretation paradigm of grimace in Gogol's prose.
