Russian Сolloquial Speech of the End of the 20th – Beginning of the 21st Centuries: Figurative Meanings

Abstract: The article explores current for today’s state of language phenomenon of changes in the meanings of words caused by metaphoric and metonymic shifts. Colloquial speech is considered to be the source of such changes of semantics as the given above models of figurative meaning development are the most productive.
