Fathers and Grandfathers in I.S. Tourgenev's Novel

Abstract: The contributor researches the associative background which involves the epoch of early XIX century Russia's heroic past into the literary world of Fathers and Sons by I.S. Tourgenev. The author analyses supertextual signals contained in the characters' past history, their material world and remarks. The question as to the artistic role of heroic past in embodying the novel conflict is solved.
