Abstract: The article discusses the implications of the word “school” in the dictionaries and in the RAS (Russian Associative Thesaurus). On the basis of a comparative analysis it is concluded that these implications are not quite identical. The author believes that the traditional method of interpreting the meaning of words based on dictionaries can be significantly supplemented by the data of psycholinguistic experiments.
