THE IMAGE OF PONTIUS PILATE IN BULGAKOV’S NOVEL «MASTER AND MARGARITA» (THE WORKSHOP TECHNOLOGY)

Abstract: The article deals with the lesson in the workshop technology devoted to the analysis of the image of Pontius Pilate and the problem of moral choice in the famous novel. In the mode of independent work with key episodes of the Bulgakov’s novel «Master and Margarita» students analyze Pontius Pilate's dialogue with Yeshua, a scene of declaration of a sentence, a dream of the hero and a scene of deliverance and forgiveness. While working students give the characteristic of a situation of the moral choice, define system of values Pilat-a-man vs Pilat-prokurator, define the place of Pontius Pilate in system of characters of the novel. Performing the tasks in groups students appeal to G. Petrovsky's poem «Pilat», N. Ge's picture «That there is a truth?», screen versions of the novel «Master and Margarita» (director V. Bortko), create symbolical illustrations to the novel and learn to interpret an image in his discrepancy and dynamics. In the course of work students come to conclusions about tragic character of Pontius Pilate, can formulate understanding of the humanistic concept of the author releasing the hero. Materials of article can be used by teachers in preparing the lesson in the 11th grade.
