ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF CULTURE AS BACKGROUND REPRESENTATIONS OF SENIORS: RESULTS OF THE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Abstract: The article describes the main contents and the generalized results of the researches made by the author in the field of background knowledge of school leavers of their image of a man of culture. Firstly, it is important for us to find out if there are any changes in the basic ideas of school leavers about culture and a man of culture in particular. Secondly, it is necessary to reveal the arguments (if any) of young people, as well as to learn if the cultural field concerning men of culture expands or narrows in the mind of people who completed secondary education. Finally we are interested in the depth of the knowledge given at school about the concept of a man of culture and what makes a person educated and well-bred. The materials and conclusions presented in the article — result of the questionnaire among school leavers of 1996, 2006 and 2016 — presented to the reader in comparison. It is of interest to teachers of the higher and high school, and also researchers of the ideas of school leavers of different years.
