THE PUBLISHING STRATEGIES OF THE NOVEL «THE POSSESSED» BY F. M. DOSTOEVSKY IN POST-SOVIET RUSSIA

Abstract: The article is devoted to Post-Soviet publishing strategies of the novel «The Possessed» by F. M. Dostoevsky. The main aim is to determine and classify modern publishing strategies, to find out common features and differences from the Soviet publishing strategies. The main method is analysis of text, auxiliary content and design of all Post-Soviet editions of the novel «The Possessed». Statistics methods and elements of textual criticism are also used in this research. The history of the issue of the «omitted» chapter «At Tikhon’s» in connection with editorial practice, is studied. The main result of the work: despite objective differences, textual publishing strategies of the novel «The Possessed» by F. M. Dostoevsky in modern Russia are almost the same as in 1989-1990; these strategies are partly outdated and need to be replaced. The results may be used in the project of a new popular edition of the novel «The Possessed».
