Abstract: Dynamics and evolution of “Arsenyev’s life” main character’s spiritual states are investigated
in the article. This is done basing on the debatable context of problem of Christian vector of Bunin’s artistic religiosity. The choice of the work for the analysis in the designated aspect is most optimal as it unveils
writer`s spiritual world in the most extensive way due to the special genre nature and author`s outstanding
status. The acute experience of ontological gap between the created world and the God between earthly and
heavenly is replaced by Arsenyev’s sense of finding his own path of man carrying the cross and his adoption
“crosses of the God given to person”. It is shown in the article based on K. Saizev’s work and using criterion’s
of character’s and author’s clerical and spiritual experience. The author of the article substantiates that one
of the key themes in describing character’s life is the topic of sleeping and wakefulness. That is interpreted
in context of spiritual perspective. It is organically included in the topic of character’s “wandering” in “hermeneutic circle” in his definitives of phenomena person’s life as a whole. The methodology for “spiritual measurement” was aligned with bright specificity of the
author’s thinking and his raw artistic gift.
