Abstract: The purpose of the article is to confirm the relevance of the stylistic qualification of units represented by the marks in the Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language, edited by D. N. Ushakov (TSRYa), for modern author’s (writer’s) lexicography, addressed to the texts of the 19th century. General scientific methods of observation, comparison, analysis, contextual methods were used in assessing stylistic and other deviations of units in the individual author’s dictionary. The article defends the idea of the importance of the polyparametric description of units in the author’s lexi-cography. To compile dictionaries of the language of writers of the 19th century, it is argued that it is necessary to rely on an authoritative classical dictionary – TSRYa, which captures traditional stylistic characteristics and assessments of the expressive potential of vocabulary resources with illustrative material supporting their qualifications – quotations from classic writers, which ensures the qualities of reliability, objectivity in the representation of idiolect units, internal correlation with the cultural and aesthetic atmosphere The 19th century of the “stylistic impression” left by them. The theoretical and / or practical significance of the study is related to the relevance of the author’s lexicography, the need for further work with the texts of classic writers of the XIX century. The objectivity and accuracy of the data in the dictionaries of the writer’s language will enable users to adequately perceive the texts of works, taking into account the author’s intentions, to feel the work of a linguistic personality in selecting funds, using and enriching the resources of the national dictionary. The materials can be applied in university courses of lexicography, stylistics, history and theory of the language of fiction.
