Abstract: The aim of this study is to analyze the specific features of presenting the Russian parts of speech system for Chinese students through the prism of the communicative method of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The scope of the study em-braces the linguistic and didactic aspects of the Russian grammar in comparison with the grammar of the Chinese language. The study focuses on the peculiarities of presentation of the Russian parts of speech to Chinese students as its research object. The paper discusses various approaches to defining the concept of “part of speech”, describes the classification of parts of speech in the Russian and Chinese languages, studies the requirements for the acquisition of the morphological material in the standards for the Russian as a foreign language, and identifies the difficulties of Chinese students in studying the Russian parts of speech. The latter include: 1) barriers caused by the lack of formal indicators of parts of speech in Chinese; 2) barriers caused by the complex and intri-cate system of the Russian parts of speech. The study analyzes the specific features of the perception of the Russian parts of speech by Chinese students. The paper reviews textbooks and teaching aids for teaching Russian to Chinese students created on the basis of both traditional (grammar-translation) and communicative methods of teaching foreign languages. It has been found that the communicative method correlates with the concentric principle of presenting grammar material. The paper substantiates the need to use corpus methods while studying parts of speech in the course of Russian as a foreign language. The authors come to the conclusion that the procedure of introducing morphological material when teaching Chinese students should be based on the syntactic principle which opens up the possibility to better realize the communicative orientation of learning. As a result of the analysis of the specificity of parts of speech in the Russian and Chinese languages, a conclusion is made about the need to level out the language stereotypes of students when the native language becomes the cause of an error at any level of generating an utterance.
