Methods to Study Classical Literature: “A Common Story” (“Obyknovennaya istoriya”) and “Oblomov” as a Dilogy

Abstract: The artcile describes a new idea of teaching and learning the creative work of I.A.Goncharov in the 10th form of a secondary school: the author suggests to cosider the novels “A Common Story” and “Oblomov” as a dilogy that makes the process of learning the author’s creative work more systematic. In the first part of the work the problems common for both novels and the specific character of each of them in implementing the concepts of the world and the human being are emphasized. There are questions and activities of different degree of complexity given in the second part of the work to think the novels over at home and in class.
