Abstract: The article is written in the context of linguopersonology. The work is based on the concept of linguopersonology, which was developed within the framework of the Kemerovo school of linguopersonology, headed by N. D. Golev. The following ideas are considered urgent by the authors: firstly, it is the idea that the linguopersonological scope of language has mental-psychological foundations; secondly, it is a thought that a linguistic personality is a bearer of language ability of a special, nature-specified quality. The aim of the article is to present a typology of the language interpretive ability of fifth graders. The type of language interpretive ability is understood in this study as certain individual-typical features of perception and comprehension of texts of different nature and functional orientation. The following general scientific research methods are employed in the article: analysis, synthesis and comparison. The main method of research is experiment aimed at identification of the interpretive activity of the native speakers. Two types of language interpretive ability of fifth grade schoolchildren have been identified and characterized as a result of the undertaken experiment: a brief-interpretive ability and an expanded-interpretive ability. The brief-interpretive type means a kind of interpretive ability by which the text is interpreted superficially. The expanded-interpretive type is a kind of interpretive ability in the course of which the text is interpreted thoroughly paying close attention to every detail. The study argues that the dominant type of interpretive ability among fifth grade schoolchildren is the brief-interpretive type. The typology of the language interpretive ability of children is based on the degree of reproduction of the basic and additional information contained in the original text in their own interpretive utterances. The types of interpretive ability of schoolchildren were identified on the material of the text of an apartment renting advertisement. This text, on the one hand, is pragmatically oriented, and on the other hand, goes beyond the current interests of fifth graders, which allows identifying the natural genuine features of the interpretive activity of fifth grade schoolchildren. The results obtained can serve as a basis for organizing person-centered development of semantic comprehension skills of fifth grade schoolchildren.
