Elements of Comparative Method at the Russian Languages Lessons

Abstract: The article discusses the necessity of including historical and comparative grammar in the school course of the Russian language. The author suggests activities for the key sections of the Russian language school course (orthography, morphemics and word building, morphology and lexicology), which which are taught by commenting on the facts of the contemporary Russian language that cannot be efficiently explained without addressing the history of the language and comparing the data of the Russian and foreign languages.Comparative aspect of teaching Russian at school (the historical and liguistic aspects of teaching in particular) proves to promote the cross-curriculum links between the courses of the Russian language and the Russian literature and equips students with the understanding of the evolution of the literary Russian language The described techniques can be implemented either within the framework of elective courses or at the Russian language lessons.
